CRA Charitable Giving Priorities
CommunityBank of Texas is deeply committed to the health and vitalization of the communities in which we live and work. We proudly support nonprofit organizations working to strengthen our communities within our Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) footprint and align with our charitable giving priorities, including:
- Financial literacy, education and counseling for small businesses
- Economic development by financing small businesses
- Financial literacy, education and counseling for low and moderate income individuals
- Affordable housing for low and moderate income individuals
- Job training and readiness for low and moderate income individuals
- Healthcare services for low and moderate income individuals
- Transitional and supportive housing for low and moderate income individuals
- Basic human services (such as food, clothing and shelter)
- Programs supporting diversity and inclusion, particularly in low or moderate income neighborhoods
- Other services targeted to low or moderate income individuals
In general, CommunityBank of Texas does not make CRA grants or donations to:
- Individuals
- Organizations which lack the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status
- Political organizations, candidates or lobbying efforts
- Fraternal organizations*
- Sports teams*
- National or international organizations, unless their programs have significant local impact
- Religious or sectarian organizations, except when they are conducting programs secular in nature and have wide public impact
- Travel, including student trips
- Organizations intending to use funds outside of our CRA assessment area
- Organizations not intending to use funds for CRA-eligible activity*
The following information/documentation will be needed in order to consider an organization’s request for CRA charitable support:
- A completed Community Organization Questionnaire
- Copy of the IRS 501(c)(3) federal tax exemption letter of determination
- IRS Form W-9
- A brief description of the organization’s request including amount requested and intended use of funds
Special consideration will be given to organizations that provide board service opportunities or other CRA-qualified volunteer opportunities for CommunityBank of Texas employees.
